Today, part of the hurdles to overcome as a Deaf Jamaican are issues with the education system and its inability to meet the growing needs of the Jamaicans within the deaf community. This, in most cases, leads to loss of value and purpose. Therefore, it is imperative that we know as humans the Deaf and hard of hearing have a say but all they need is help get that voice across. More employment opportunities for deaf are required and more inclusion in education at every level.
We believe that equality, equity, and education are universal human rights, yet the deaf and hard of hearing community has experienced decades of systemic discrimination, exclusion, abuse, and oppression.
Our growing community is a safe, encouraging, and supportive place where our collective potential shines through the darkness, and our perseverance drives us to create a brighter tomorrow. By offering a variety of programs, services, and educational opportunities, it is our mission to help deaf and hard of hearing individuals understand their worth, build self-confidence, and develop leadership skills that enrich their value, purpose, and productivity within the mainstream job market.
